Hout, lak, bewerkt boek / Wood, laquer, cut-out book.

Afmeting / Dimensions: 13.5 x 19.5 x 5 cm.

Lucas Feireiss in Imagine Architecture, Published by Gestalten Berlin 2014:
Halmans's artwork M. K. consists of a 1940 copy of the autobiographical manifesto, Mein Kampf by megalomaniac Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, in which he outlines his political ideology and future for Germany. A floor plan of the infamous Führerbunker, an air-raid shelter, is carved out of Halmans's copy of the book. For Halmans, this book can be seen as a starting point of the terror and violence that raged through Europe during the Second World War. Hitler took refuge in the bunker in the beginning of 1945, making it the epicenter of the Nazi regime until the final week of the Second World War. It is also the place where he, and many of his fellow Nazis eventually committed suicide.
